We believe that First Aid Training is an important, necessary life skill for everyone, and we provide this training with hands-on scenario-based learning while having fun. In the time it takes for more advanced care to arrive, first aid aims to prevent medical conditions from deteriorating, help relieve pain and provide reassurance. This one-day course is ideal for first-aiders in the workplace and anyone wanting to learn First Aid Level 2.
First Aid - Level 2
Key Learning Objectives:

This First Aid course will teach you the skill and knowledge to recognise emergencies, and comfortably be a first responder to provide a range of first aid treatment and basic life support in line with the New Zealand Resuscitation Council guidelines

In a safe simulated environment, you will be able to assess the dangers to yourself, check the condition of collapsed / injured person(s) and gain confidence to perform CPR on an adult, child and infant in an emergency.

First Aid Level 2 certificate valid for 2 years upon successful completion.
- You will be required to demonstrate to the trainer that you are physically able to perform required first aid tasks. If you are unable to perform cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the floor long enough for the trainer to assess competency, then you may not meet the requirements for a first aider certificate.
NZQA 6402 - Provide basic life support - Level 1, 2 Credits
Course overview:
- Provide basic life support (DRSABCD).
- Assess and manage a collapsed person's positioning and condition.
- Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children, and infants.
- Automated external defibrillators (AED) use.
- Manage a foreign body airway obstruction in adults, children, and infants.
- First aid for life-threatening bleeding.
- First aid management for a person in shock.
NZQA 6401 - Provide first aid - Level 2, 1 Credit
Prerequisite: US 6402 - Provide basic life support.
Course overview:
Provide first aid for;
- A trauma caused by - Burns, fractures, dislocations, soft tissue injuries or poisoning.
- Medical conditions from - Heart attack, asthma, stroke, seizure or diabetes.
NZQA 6400 - Manage first aid in an emergency situation - Level 3, 2 Credits
Prerequisite: US 6401 - Provide first Aid
Course overview:
- People credited with this unit standard are able to manage first aid in an emergency situation and mitigate risk to self and others.
- Learner would be assessed to address major injuries from the following range: Chemical / electric burns, gunshot, impalement, stabbing or crush injuries. Amputations, head/spinal/internal injuries. Severe allergic reactions, cold emergency and heat emergency.
