Our training facility is purpose build and designed to encourage and support all learners, with our custom build training tailor we can simulate an actual confined space entry. We pride ourselves in being able to provide confined space and gas testing training to ensure competency for people to work safely in confined spaces.
Confined Space and Gas Testing Courses
NZQA 18426 - Demonstrate knowledge of hazards associated with confined spaces - Level 3, 4 Credits
NZQA 17599 - Plan a confined space entry - level 4, 5 Credits
NZQA 25510 - Operate an atmospheric testing device to determine a suitable atmosphere exists to work safely- Level 3, 4 Credits
Course overview:
This confined space and gas testing course will provide you with the skills and knowledge, as an entrant or observer, to identify the types of confined spaces and hazards and risks associated with working in a confined space. It will also cover the atmospheric testing and equipment required to establish a planned and safe entry, as well as the correct emergency procedures in the event of a rescue.
Key Learning Objectives:
-
Demonstrate knowledge of confined spaces, and their permit notification and implementation requirements.
-
Identify control measures to isolate, eliminate, and minimise the risk of hazards in confined spaces.
-
Demonstrate knowledge of monitoring and confined space testing requirements.
-
Describe the responsibilities and duties of people entering confined spaces or conducting observation duties for confined spaces.
-
Identifying hazards and controls within confined spaces.
-
Develop an emergency procedure plan for a confined space.
-
Complete documentation required for confined space entry.
-
Demonstrate knowledge of atmospheric testing in potentially hazardous environments.
-
Conduct atmospheric tests.
-
Interpret and respond to atmospheric testing results.
Confined Space and Gas Testing Refresher Training
The criteria for refresher courses remain the same as previously, the learner must already hold the Unit Standards they are refreshing.
Refresher training is not a legal requirement; however, it is strongly recommended to ensure compliance with the Health & Safety Legislation and its industry "good practice" guidelines.
It is generally seen as good work practice that trainees refresh these unit standards every 2 years. Duration of this course is 4 hours and will cover the unit Standards and a practical exercise to reinforce the trainee's knowledge on working in a Confined Space & Gas Testing. (The practical exercise can be replaced with our Workplace verifier process - This process is simple; a workplace verifier confirms the competency of the learner performing the tasks being refreshed by completing our Attestation form).
