With this training, learners will be able to gain a solid understanding of how they can identify hazards and safe use of a mobile elevated work platform (MEWP).
Elevated Work Platform Course
Theory and practical unit standards are available on the following Unit Standards:
- Unit Standard 23966 - Mobile Elevated Work Platform Theory
- Unit Standard 23960 - Scissor Lift
- Unit Standard 23961 - Truck-Mounted Elevating Work Platform
- Unit Standard 23962 - Boom Lift
- Unit Standard 23963 - Trailer-mounted Elevated Work Platform
- Unit Standard 23964 - Vertical Lift Elevating Work Platform
Don’t put yourself at risk by not following correct safety precautions when using a MEWP.
Key Learning Objectives:
-
Demonstrating knowledge of types of EWPs, their safety features, and suitability for purpose (range: scissor lift, truck mounted, self-propelled boom lift, trailer mounted, vertical lift).
-
Demonstrating knowledge of legislative requirements in relation to Code of Practice and the use of EWPs.
-
Assessing the worksite and preparing to use a truck-mounted mounted EWP.
-
Carrying out operations in a workplace environment, and shutting down, and reporting faults, the truck-mounted mounted EWP.
-
Assessing the worksite, and preparing to use a self-propelled boom lift EWP.
-
Carrying out operations in a workplace environment, shutting down and reporting faults the self-propelled boom lift EWP.
-
Assessing the worksite, and preparing to use a trailer-mounted EWP.
-
Carrying out operations in a workplace environment, reporting faults, and shutting down the trailer mounted EWP.
-
Assessing the worksite, preparing and operating a vertical lift elevating work platform (EWP).
-
Carrying out operations in a workplace environment, reporting faults, and shutting down the vertical lift EWP.
EWP Refresher Training
It is generally seen as good work practice that trainees refresh these unit standards every 3 years. Duration of this course is 4 hours. (The practical exercise can be replaced with our Workplace verifier process - This process is simple; a workplace verifier confirms the competency of the learner performing the tasks being refreshed by completing our Attestation form).
