Fire Warden Training covers all the aspects of Basic Fire Safety Awareness, but additionally deals with undertaking the role of Fire Warden within your environment. Therefore, they will learn about the responsibilities and duties associated with the role and will receive practical knowledge about undertaking efficient and orderly evacuations.
Fire Warden Training
NZQA 18408 - Fire & Emergency Wardens in the workplace - Level 3, 3 Credits
This fire warden course will give you an in-depth understanding of the duties of a Fire and Emergency Warden, as well as the practical skills to effectively evacuate the workplace in event of a fire or emergency.
Key Learning Objectives:
- Understanding the Legal Requirements Fire Service Act 1975, Fire Safety & Evacuations of Buildings Regulations 2006, and Approved Fire Evacuation Scheme and Evacuation Procedures.
- Recognising all types of emergencies and human behavior when confronted by an emergency.
- Maintaining a Visitors Register and a Disability Assistance Register.
- Procedures for a safe evacuation of occupants.
- Duties of key personnel Senior/Floor/Building Warden.
- Fire prevention, detection and warning devices.
- Preparing the building or work site for an emergency.
- Simulated evacuation drills (where applicable).
- Assembly points and places of safety.
- Highlight best practice within industries.
- Workplace audits to ensure safe and speedy evacuation.
- Knowledge of companies own procedures.
Fire Warden Refresher Training
The criteria for refresher courses remain the same as previously, the learner must already hold the Unit Standards they are refreshing.
Refresher training is not a legal requirement; however, it is strongly recommended to ensure compliance with the Health & Safety Legislation and its industry "good practice" guidelines.
It is generally seen as good work practice that trainees refresh these unit standards every 2 years. Duration of this course is approximately 4 hours and will cover the unit Standard.
