US 19359 Inspect and maintain height safety equipment
ACT Safety is now offering this new course.
This unit standard is recommended for users of height safety equipment who wish to carry out regular maintenance checks without the expense of a third party.
This unit standard does not include the repair of equipment but gives the PCBU the confidence that their height workers are trained to recognise unsafe or faulty equipment.
It provides trained workers the knowledge and confidence to inspect and record height equipment.
The training will include instruction on inspection and maintenance on industrial rope access, fall arrest, travel restraint and associated equipment.
1 Identify manufacturers’ maintenance instructions.
2 Identify manufacturers’ maintenance specifications.
3 Reject damaged and/or worn equipment.
4 Carry out maintenance procedures in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications.
5 Record equipment inspections in log book.
6 Record maintenance procedures in log book.
The training is to Best Practice Guide (BPG) based on;
Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and its associated regulations; manufacturers’ instructions; designer’s requirements; company quality management systems
This course is approximately a 6 hour course and will cost $280 per trainee plus GST
We will be rolling this unit out as a public course as of the Wednesday 19th April. Courses will be limited to 8. ACT Safety will provide all the equipment for the practical component however individuals suppling and checking their own height equipment would be an advantage.
We will also be offering this training as an in- house course. This will be for a maximum of 8 trainees and it will be vital that your trainees have some height equipment to check for the practical component of the training. Cost of this course in house will be $2000 plus GST. Courses outside the Auckland area will incur expenses.
